The B Boys – Rock The House

Vintertainment (US) [VTI-002] 1983

This was the follow-up to “Two, Three, Break” and was the second release for Vintertainment. While “Cuttin’ Herbie” followed the same style as their previous release and focused on Chuck’s DJ skills, “Rock The House” also featured Donald D who’s lyrics were later sampled by the likes of the Beastie Boys, DJ Spinna and more famously by Double Dee & Steinski on their classic cut and paste classic “Lesson 2”.

The vinyl had the same tracks on both sides and tere are a couple of label variations but note once again the older style Vintertainment sleeve on the original, although it was also issued in a generic sleeve. The later 2000’s pressing still has a black label but with a slightly different font which is especially noticeable on the company address at the bottom. Another difference is on the address at the bottom on the original pressing there is a gap between N. and Y. which isn’t on the later issue. The later 200o’s issue also has a slightly larger centre press ring.

Another release of note is the UK release on Morgan Khan’s Streetwave Records. It contained the B Boys first two US releases and also included an exclusive¬†Mastermind Mix by Herbie of “Two, Three, Break” and “Cuttin’ Herbie”.
