Hip Hop Be Bop

Fresh 3 MC’s began life as a 4 MC crew named the Playboys Incorporated Crew. Over time they were reduced to 3 MC’s named the Funky Fresh 3 MC’s, later shortened to simply Fresh 3 MC’s and released two singles for Profile Records.

Bill Moore of the group South Bronx was the uncle of Mr. Bee (Freedom Born Allah) and Jay Kool (Supreme Just) and suggested to his friend and studio engineer, Dave Ogrin, that he meet his nephews with the possibility of recording a track. Dave created the music, playing all the instruments himself, and the finished track, Fresh, led to the group signing a deal with Profile Records.

The group followed it up with the single, Have Your Heart, the following year. The track was an early love rap and also included the freestyle track, A Few Minutes More. Although the trio also appeared on Pumpkin‘s Here Comes That Beat, they never matched the success of their debut.
