I can’t find out any information regarding 10-Speed, other than they were a Canadian session group.
Although the classic Kraftwerk track was included in the Breakin’/Breakdance movie in that magical scene with Turbo (Michael Chambers) dancing with a broom, for some reason it didn’t actually appear on the soundtrack.
The Breakin’ movie exceeded expectations and soon after the music market was awash with compilation albums dedicated to breakdancing, some of which included instructional posters. One such compilation released in 1984 was simply titled Breakdance and featured one whole side by Alex & The City Crew which included an instructional rap. It was released in various countries with different covers and a variety of track lists. It’s quite possible that this track by 10-Speed was made specifically for this compilation.
Tour de France by 10-Speed was also included on a double A side reissue 12″ by Unidisc in 1988 which featured two other tracks.
