Hip Hop Be Bop

G-Force was a working name for the duo of Ronnie Gee (Ronald Gordon) and Captain Cee (Will Crittendon).

Originally from Louisiana before moving to New York, Will was responsible for a number of soul, disco productions throughout the 1970’s and early 1980’s, also forming his own short-lived Willpower Records. Ronnie Gee, on the other hand, began his rapping career on Reflection Records with the release of A Corona Jam in 1979 followed by the classic, Raptivity, in 1980. The latter was originally released on Bachak but due to it’s success, was reissued on Reflection where it gained wider distribution.

If you grew up in the 1980’s then the chances are you know the duo better as G-Force. Feel The Force was their only release but it was a huge hit and was also one of the tracks that featured on Morgan Khan’s Street Sounds label in the UK, helping to kickstart the highly successful Electro series.

Their are two slightly different 12″ versions of Feel The Force. One version includes ray gun noises in the background. Although I’ve posted both labels here, I can’t actually find any differences between the two. The only way to tell the difference is to play them. Also, while some people assume the difference is between the promo and official release version, there are in fact, two matching promos, also identical to each other, for each version. The only obviously different version is the hard to find 7″ test pressing only, which includes a shorter, edited version of the track and is unavailable elsewhere.

Another variation is a beige label release but I’m unaware of the track version. Images to be added later.
