The Boo-Dah Bliss Crew were DJ Spivey, Doug E. Fresh (Douglas E. Davis) and Spoonie Gee (Gabriel Jackson) and Pass The Boo-Dah was their only release as a group. Van Gibbs, father of producer Salaam Remi, also appeared on the track but it’s unclear if he was actually a member of the group.
This release was the debut on vinyl for Doug E. Fresh, who would go on to release music on Enjoy, Vintertainment, Reality and later, Gee Street. Already a seasoned rap veteran, Spoonie Gee would go on to release a number of tracks for Tuff City.
Pass The Boo-Dah utilised the music from UK reggae/pop group, Musical Youth’s, Pass The Dutchie, written by The Mighty Diamonds members, Fitzroy Simpson and Lloyd Ferguson together with Jackie Mittoo.
