The group consisted of Little Dave Ski (Dave Robinson), Mr. D (Lorenzo Douglas) and Really D (Darryl Reid), although I’m not 100% certain that it’s Really D. If someone can confirm this or has any further information regarding the group, it would be greatly appreciated.
They released two classic disco rap tracks; Philosophy Rappin’ Spree and When You’re Standing On The Top, both of which were reissued in the 2000’s courtesy of Traffic Entertainment. Philosophy Rappin’ Spree also appeared on the B side to Tuff City’s 1994 reissue of the Cold Crush Brothers‘, Fresh, Wild, Fly And Bold.
Philosophy Rappin' Spree
Label: Delmar International Records Inc. Year: 1980 Format: 12″ Origin: US
Side A
Philosophy Rappin’ Spree [10:59]
Side B
Philosophy Rappin’ Spree [10:59]
Notes: Apart from the etchings in the runout groove, the original release and the later reissue by Traffic Entertainment Group are easily distinguished: the original pressing has only one press ring; the reissue has two press rings and a slightly different font.
Label: Street Beat Records Inc. Year: 1982 Format: 12″ Origin: US
Side A
When You’re Standing On The Top [6:59]
Side B
When You’re Standing On The Top (Instrumental) [6:59]
Notes: There are two original pressings: one with a yellow label; one with a red label. There is also a later reissue by Traffic Entertainment Group which, although it states instrumental, actually has the vocal version on both sides. As for the label, the reissue uses a slightly bolder font which is more noticeable when you compare the number 3 in the artist names.
