Bilal – Live At Glasshaus (LP Repress) [Glasshaus Presents GHP00021]
***PRE-ORDER – Est. 6 June 2025***
Spanning 23 years of recorded output, Grammy Award-winning artist Bilal performed a mid-career retrospective featuring an ensemble of luminaries from his storied musical tribe such as Questlove, Common, and Robert Glasper. For one night only, the supergroup reworked standouts from a genre-defying catalogue, including Bilal’s debut, “1st Born Second”, his famously unreleased sophomore album, “Love for Sale”, “Airtight’s Revenge”, Common’s seminal Soulquarian-era “Like Water for Chocolate”, as well as premiering Bilal’s song “Humility.”
The concert was recorded live at Glasshaus in Brooklyn, New York, on December 2, 2023, for a studio audience of 100 guests. The live performance includes “Something to Hold” and “All For Love,” marking the first official release of these tracks from Bilal’s unreleased album “Love for Sale”. Also includes a live version of Common’s “Funky For You” from his seminal “Like Water For Chocolate” album plus Questlove delivers the story of Bilal’s “Sometimes,” which includes mention of the Soulquarian movement at Electric Lady Studios with the likes of D’Angelo and Erykah Badu.
Housed in an old-style tip-on gatefold jacket, this is the 2nd pressing of Bilal’s first live album, featuring fan favorites like “Soul Sista,” “Sometimes,” and “Reminisce”.
