Hip Hop Be Bop

Tommy Musto and Tommy Sozzi were close friends from Brooklyn and began their musical careers, like so many others, as DJ’s before evolving into production.

Originally, members of Intermetro Record Pool, they were introduced to Carlos de Jesus, program director at radio station KTU and future member of The Buggers, who gave them a slot as one of the remix teams and also their name, Dynamic Duo.

The duo moved from mastermixes into production and began working on tracks for 25 West Records, where they released the classic, Knights Of The Turntables. The concept of hip hop and electro meets the days of old was an idea by Matt Noble. The track featured rapper Sha-Quan with legendary NYC techno and house DJ, Lenny D on the turntables and was produced by Matt together with his production partner, the late Kevin Calhoun.

Following the early hip hop releases, the duo are better known for their house and techno productions and even reprised the group name for dance releases on Nu Groove Records. Tommy Musto also founded dance label, Fourth Floor Records.
