Drawing inspiration from a range of vintage and contemporary masters Cymande, SAULT, and Sade, to name a few, the rest of the eight-piece group doesn’t linger in the shadows. The album closes with “The Queen,” the sole instrumental track, which evokes the spirit of 1970s blaxploitation soundtracks with its wah-wah and fuzz guitars and jazzy changes.
