Description

LA The Darkman – Heist Of The Century (2LP Reissue) [Coalmine Records CM105]

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of LA the Darkman’s iconic album “Heist of the Century,” Coalmine Records has joined forces with the Brooklyn native for an exclusive vinyl reissue. This marks the first time the record has been repressed since its original release. Widely regarded as one of the most powerful and underrated works from a Wu-Tang Clan affiliate, this album’s brilliance becomes evident as soon as you immerse yourself in its dynamic 18 tracks.

LA the Darkman encapsulates the unbridled essence of the Wu-Tang Clan while infusing his own distinct gritty style into “Heist of the Century.” His brilliance shines whether he’s delivering solo performances on standout tracks like “Shine,” “Street Life,” and the titular track or collaborating with rap heavyweights such as Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Havoc, and Masta Killah.

The production lineup is equally impressive, featuring contributions from acclaimed artists like RZA, DJ Muggs, Havoc, 4th Disciple, and Carlos “Six July” Broady, who produced ten tracks among others. Whether you’ve been a fan since day one, recently embarked on a journey through the vast Wu-Tang Clan discography, or fall somewhere in between, “Heist of the Century” undeniably stands as an exceptional representation of their sound.
