Description

DJ Bacon – A Hip Hop Lovers African Safari Soundtrack (LP) [Black Buffalo Records 2022]

Following his 2020 release “Beastie Floyd”, Brisbane, Australia’s DJ Bacon presents a brand new album of remixes. This release sees DJ Bacon blending a music bed of African rare groove samples with 90’s rap vocals. His minimal production techniques give birth to a classic golden era sound that is a throwback to the heydays of sample-based hip hop.

70’s African funk and highlife music is sampled and remixed with classic hip-hop vocals by artists including Outkast, Q-Tip, Mos Def, Jungle Brothers, Kool Keith and The Roots. This album brings an earthy and funky vibe that shines a new light on these classic raps.

Bacon takes the DJ mashup concept a few steps further by making an authentic concept DJ album.

Pressed on 180gm black vinyl and complete with printed inner sleeve. You can check out the audio on his Bandcamp page here.
